What Was Recalled

Country Vet Biscuits Original Meaty Flavor in 4 lb bags (UPC 899623000463) and Heartland Harvest Dog Biscuits Meaty Flavor with Chicken in 4 lb bags (UPC 840227340691), both with expiration date 09/06/2026.

Affected lot numbers: 40906513

Why

The recall resulted from routine FDA sampling which revealed the finished products contained Salmonella bacteria. The company has ceased production and distribution of the affected lot.

Risk

Salmonella can affect animals eating the products. Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. There is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products. No illnesses have been reported to date.
