Gold Star Distribution Products Recalled: Insanitary Conditions and Contamination

Date: December 26, 2025 Recall type: Voluntary Company: Gold Star Distribution, Inc. Product: All FDA-regulated products held at facility including pet food Species: Multiple (pet food products) Reason: Rodent and avian contamination, insanitary storage conditions, potential Salmonella Distribution: Minnesota, North Dakota, Indiana (multiple retail stores)

What Was Recalled

All FDA-regulated products held at Gold Star Distribution facility, including pet food products. The recall covers all drugs, medical devices, cosmetics, dietary supplements, human food, and animal food products stored at the facility.

Affected lot numbers: All products held at facility during contamination period

Why

FDA determined the facility was operating under insanitary conditions, including rodent excreta, rodent urine, and bird droppings in areas where products were stored. These conditions create significant risk of contamination with filth and harmful microorganisms including Salmonella.

Risk

Products held under insanitary conditions may become contaminated through contact with contaminated surfaces or airborne particulates from animal waste. Animals consuming contaminated pet food may become ill from bacterial contamination including Salmonella. Rodents are main reservoirs of Leptospira bacteria that causes leptospirosis in humans and animals. No illnesses have been reported to date.
